A Cup O' Joe

Dear Trust Associates,

Welcome to the New Year! I hope you had a chance to spend some quality time with your family and friends over the holidays.

December was extremely busy for all of us with a record number of donor advised funds opened (538 accounts to be exact) and $100MM of new trust sales (December AUM Dashboard), bringing our total client balances to a record 7.2 Billion. Clients and advisors continue to embrace our services now more than ever, which is a tribute to our hard work and commitment to being client first. The firm’s 2019 Annual Report highlighted Will Lucius, Director of Special Needs Trusts for our company (pg. 23-24), which is a prime example of the value-add of Raymond James Trust.

As we embark on a new decade, it is a chance to start fresh by focusing on opportunities, not problems, by directing our best thinking and resources to areas that currently exist to truly transform our business. To do this we must begin each day by asking ourselves “What do our clients want?” and “Are we providing it?” – not “What do we want?” Organizations that transform their industries or create new markets are the ones that do just that, like Apple and Amazon. Organizations that die are those that run for the benefit of the insiders, not the client, or begin each day with can’t do versus can do. If we can keep that in mind we will continue to enjoy even more success over the next ten years.

No matter what lies ahead in 2020, I am confident in our ability to adapt and find success as long as we remain true to our core values. I am proud to part of this team and look forward to another successful year.

Thanks for all you do.

Joe
