Mark McHugh is a Managing Director, Private Wealth Advisor, and Senior Institutional Investment Consultant at Alex. Brown, Raymond James, where he leads The McHugh Group, a Boston-based advisory team serving ultra-high-net-worth families, family offices, endowments, foundations, and retirement systems. He also works extensively with entrepreneurs and business owners, guiding them through liquidity events and helping transform concentrated wealth into durable, multi-generational investment programs.
With more than 30 years of experience across multiple market cycles, Mark is recognized for bringing institutional discipline, governance, and investment rigor to complex wealth and investment relationships. He partners closely with clients to design and oversee programs grounded in formal investment policy, disciplined asset allocation, and independent manager selection—all delivered with a long-term, fiduciary mindset.
Mark began his investment career in 1987 at Bear Stearns. He joined Alex. Brown in 1991 and has remained with the firm through several mergers, including its transition to Alex. Brown / Raymond James. Earlier in his career, he worked at Procter & Gamble.
He currently serves on the firm’s Executive Council and the Private Wealth Advisory Council. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mark is deeply active as a volunteer in the nonprofit community. He is a board member, treasurer, and chair of the finance and investment committee of the Boch Performing Arts Center, and a board member of Pine Street Inn, New England’s largest provider of homeless services. He previously served as a partner at Converge Venture Partners, Common Angels Ventures, and held roles with various philanthropic organizations.
Mark earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Boston College and attended the Securities Industry Institute® at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
