Once you’ve established your estate plan, you might only revisit it annually. But certain major life events should trigger an immediate review, as they can significantly impact your financial situation and affect your beneficiaries.

Check-in with your trusted advisor if you’ve experienced:

• Birth or adoption of a child
• Change in employment or entering retirement
• Major purchase or sale, such as property or a business
• Marriage, divorce or death of a spouse
• Death of someone that was part of your estate plan
• Medical emergency or major medical event
• Change in care for special needs dependent or family member
• Relocation to another state or country
• Change in living situation, including cohabitation
