Andrew G. Kaplan

Managing Director, Investments

Andrew is a Managing Director working in partnership with colleagues Al Boris and Nathan Putrich. Prior to joining Alex. Brown, Andrew was at Deutsche Bank and UBS’s Private Wealth Advisory Group. Before his tenure in wealth management, Andrew was involved with virtually every aspect of business creation and venture capital, both starting and funding companies. While in college, he founded Aberdeen & Dunbar, a nationally distributed apparel brand. As the principal and founder of Visionary Capital, he identified, advised and raised capital for companies including Blackboard (acquired), Frontline Solutions (acquired), Livewave (acquired) and New World Stoneworks. He is a member of the Professional Advisor Council of The Barnes Foundation, Regional Advisory Board of Summer Search and former Alumni Executive Board member of Hillsdale College, where he graduated from with a B.A. in history and political science with a minor in English. He also participated in the finance and accounting program at the Aresty Institute of Executive Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He spends his spare time raising two teenage boys, skiing, golfing, playing pickleball and collecting art.
