Norman Townsend, CFP® Vice President Client Advisor

For Norman, being a financial advisor isn’t just about analyzing markets and numbers. Instead, it’s about getting to know clients – attentively listening to and exploring all of the details that make their lives unlike anyone else’s. This requires a genuine, vested interest – one that goes beyond finances – and a commitment to cultivating meaningful client relationships founded in trust, candor, integrity and a healthy dose of humor.

As a 21-year industry veteran, Norman offers his services to a select clientele. This allows him to provide truly personalized service designed to help clients work toward success on their terms. Guided by his lighthearted disposition and penchant for honesty, Norman’s client meetings consist of open and straightforward conversations. “I bring a lightness to every meeting by adding in some humor and speaking candidly. I think that relieves some of the stress that can accompany finances and helps clients feel comfortable opening up to me,” says Norman.

Before joining Alex. Brown, a division of Raymond James, in 2020, Norman served as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, Wachovia Securities and, most recently, Fidelity Investments. Now that he’s part of Alex. Brown, he looks forward to building on the firm’s wide breadth of resources to continue offering clients the sophisticated service and holistic guidance they deserve.

In addition to having a B.A. in economics from Westfield State University, Norman holds his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, showcasing his commitment to practicing with higher ethical standards and meeting the CFP® Board’s continuing education requirements. He is also CTI-trained.

A native New Englander, Norman moved out West to San Diego and Aspen before settling down in Towson, Maryland, over 20 years ago. He makes his home with his wife, Tracey, their children, Camryn and Liam, and Gus, their French bulldog. Away from the office, Norman enjoy mountain biking, cooking, traveling, riding his motorcycle and immersing himself in home projects.
